Skip to contentIf you know the mother of the 13 Christmas Lads, Grýla, you know that they feed on something quite special and grim. But in themselves, they are not cruel; they are just annoying and repulsive. From December 12th, a new Christmas Lad descends from the Icelandic mountains every day until all 13 are causing mischief at once. Fortunately, they disappear one by one afterward. Some of them have names that reveal their pranks:
– Þvörusleikir – Spoon-Licker
– Pottaskefill – Pot-Scraper
– Askasleikir – Bowl-Licker
– Hurðaskellir – Door-Slammer
– Gluggagægir – Window-Peeper
– Bjúgnakrækir – Sausage-Swiper
– Kertasníkir – Candle-Stealer
